Local
History :
The Denver Assoc. of NAPMW was formed in
1980. Our monthly dinner and luncheon meetings provide
invaluable information on industry related topics. In
the past year we have had guest speakers on topics such
as Reverse Mortgages, How to Market to Realtors, Defining
Goals for a Customer Retention Program etc.
Our focus is to offer classes to increase
knowledge of current practices in the mortgage industry.
In 2003 our local assoc. was granted approval from the
Colorado Board of Real Estate to provide Continuing Education
Credits for the appraising courses co-sponsored with HUD.
Every year we co-sponsor a 3-day seminar with HUD where
over 150 people attend each day. This has become one of
our most successful training events of the year.
The Denver Assoc. also supports different
charities in the community. For the past several years
The Gateway for Battered Women’s Shelter has been
our favorite charity of choice.
National
History :
On February 12, 1964, nine women with 161
years of combined experience in various fields of mortgage
banking met in Seattle, Washington to consider the need
for an organization to promote women in the mortgage lending
professions. On April 22, 1964, the first association,
to be known as the Seattle Association of Professional
Mortgage Women, was officially formed. Other areas began
to show interest in a similar organization. In February
of 1967, the National Association of Professional Mortgage
Women was chartered for the purpose of organizing Local
Associations throughout the United States. Today, the
Association is composed of approximately 4,000 members
in over 80 Local Associations.
The charter members were interested
in forming an Association that was committed to several
important purposes.
NAPMW’s
Purpose:
- To promote and foster educational
opportunities for its members
- To maintain the high standards of the
profession
- To work for equal recognition and opportunities
for women & men
- To bring together its members for the
exchange of experiences, ideas, and interests in all
phases of mortgage banking on the Local, Region and
National levels.
- To encourage both women and men
to choose the mortgage banking profession as a career
DON’T BE AFRAID
TO FAIL
You’ve failed many times,
although you might not remember.
You fell down the first time you tried to walk.
You almost drowned the first time you tried to swim,
didn’t you?
Did you hit the ball the first time you swung a
bat?
Heavy hitters, the ones who hit the most home runs,
also strike out a lot.
R.H. Macy failed seven time before his store in
New York
caught on.
English novelist John Creasey got 753 rejection
slips
Before he published 564 books.
Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times but he also hit
714
home runs.
Don’t worry about Failure.
Worry about the chances you miss when you don’t
even try…………..
